The Eloquent Essay An Anthology of Classic Creative Nonfiction John Loughery Books Reviews

  • Though I originally bought this book for a class, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I have since referenced essays from this anthology in every day conversations and think about some of the essays often. Each one of the essays is powerful in their own way. There are underlying themes of morality and censorship that run through most of the essay and really challenge you to think about the content. Due to the short essays, the book is very easy to get through and each new essay will pique your interest. Great read, you will not be disappointed!
  • ok
  • great
  • Some true gems in this collection. Well worth the read.
  • Good
  • Had to get this for a class but I would read it again, and again. Each essay provokes great thought and is masterfully written.
  • A jumbled collection of mediocre essays. There is nothing here of any real substance, save for the Orwell piece that opens the collection. Save you money and pick a different collection!
  • I love it, it is very helpful, this was a good investment the writer is very easy to understand and captures your attention
