- The meal plan in the book is more a list of ideas for things to eat than a meal plan. None of the recipes are repeated in a week, meaning you're cooking 21 unique meals (you don't want to eat the same thing 21 times but... there's a happy medium not achieved here). Also, the meals are not all included in the recipes. Some, like "grilled chicken with quinoa and a side of steamed veg" obviously you can do without a recipe for that. But I got excited at seeing "Tofu tostadas" only to discover... there's no tofu tostada recipe. Is the shell made of tofu, or the filling? What seasonings? Many others appear to be unclear twists on the recipes provided (first breakfast in the plan is overnight oats with blueberries, but the only overnight oats in the recipes is peanut butter overnight oats). The recipes do look good. But sadly you're on your own for an actual meal plan.
In the kindle version, there's no index of recipes or table of contents of recipes, so you can't skim and skip through effectively. They appear to be organized by meal, however there's no logic to the distinction between lunch and dinner, and beverages are sprinkled throughout. The recipes also make a mix of serving sizes, from 1 to 90 (the frozen citrus cups, listed mysteriously in the "breakfast" section, and have you making 90 muffin cups of frozen fruit), so it's also not an easy map to creating your own meal plan from the recipes provided, regardless of the size of the household participating in the diet.
It's like someone took a great idea for a book, did all the work to create terrific nutrition and text and recipe content and then... stopped shy when the logistics of how to accomplish all of it in the real world had to happen. The only part I was looking for. - This book is everything you need to get started or maintain a high fat, low carb lifestyle!! I was eating a ketogenic diet for several months before I came across Leanne! Her book, YouTube channel and podcast have totally changed how I look at this lifestyle!! Her book is packed with amazing information, guidance, easy to understand charts and delicious recipes!! This book is a must have!
